Consultations

Pre-Enrollment Consultation*:

Have you been debating whether to put your child in the French Immersion program? Do you want to better understand how it compares to other French as a Second Language (FSL) options in Ontario? If you answered yes to either question, this over the phone service is for you.

Our FSL Consultant, who is a former French Teacher, will:

  • inform you of all the available FSL program options in your preferred school board,

  • provide you with comparisons of each program in that school board,

  • explain the possible disadvantages for each program,

  • give you the opportunity to ask them questions afterwards, and then

  • recommend one FSL program based on your child’s specific situation.

As a result, please be prepared to take notes during the phone consultation.

NOTE: We support the Durham, Halton, Peel, Toronto, and York Regions in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

If you reside outside of our service area and would like a consultation for your child, kindly email us at support@fairesens.ca.

How much will it cost?

Preschool to Grade 8 = $100 for one hour

*For this service, it is encouraged that you provide a copy of your child’s most recent report card prior to the appointment in addition to their Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Safety Plan, if applicable, to ensure the best service outcome possible. However, this is on a voluntary basis.

**Every English speaking public school board, Catholic school board, and private school offer different FSL programs, so please keep this in mind when suggestions are being provided.

What Our Customers Are Saying:

"Shana is incredibly knowledgeable, and shared information that I hadn't heard before regarding core French vs French Immersion. Very insightful session that has helped me to understand the pros/cons of the current system, and what the best options would be for my child. This was time well spent, and I was thankful that she left time in between each section for me to ask questions." - Menisha (Durham District School Board [DDSB])

"I am so happy I came across Shana and her French consulting services at Faire sens. I was researching and trying to understand the French language curriculum and options available through our school board district, but really struggled to get the answers I was looking for. With Shana’s consultation, she laid out all the different options available in my school board district, the pros and cons, and provided a number of resources to help us gain a better understanding and overview of the French language curriculum. I left the consultation feeling more knowledgeable and able to make an informed decision." - Tami (Peel District School Board [PDSB])

"Chatting with Shana about my daughter's options for French education in our board was such a pleasure! She is so knowledgeable and the conversation was incredibly informative. I loved how she took the time to learn about and understand my child as a person and a learner. After speaking with Shana, I feel more equipped to make important decisions regarding my daughter's French education moving forward. I highly recommend booking a consultation with her to gain critical information. You will not regret it!" - Shari (Peel District School Board [PDSB])

"Thank you Shana, this consultation was very helpful. As an immigrant I do not know a lot about the French programs in Toronto schools, so our discussion gave me a better understanding of how things work and what might be best for my daughter!" - Kate (Toronto Catholic District School Board [TCDSB])

"Shana was so helpful in navigating the French immersion options for our daughter. She walked us through 6 options across 2 school boards. We left having a clear understanding of our options and were able to make our choice with confidence. She was also able to give us sublet insights that you could never find on a board website from her own years of experience. We will revisit with Shana in a few years when we're presented with a new set of choices." Jeanette (Toronto District School Board [TDSB])

"French is a skill, not a specialization." - Shana Baptiste-Iseyemi
